Accessibility Toolkit
A series of digital publications that paves the way for global accessibility standards.
For years, UNICEF has encouraged companies and governments to create documents and informational assets accessible to those with visual impairments or other disabilities. The first of its kind, this toolkit was designed to contribute to implementing the UN Disability Inclusion strategy while also implementing those standards. Big Yellow Taxi worked with UNICEF’s accessibility experts to create an end product within the font sizes and color contrasts necessary to accommodate the visually impaired. In addition, we leveraged InDesign’s interactive elements to make the final interactive PDF accessible to screen reader software. Finally, advanced compression methods kept file size to a minimum to accommodate users in regions with poor internet access. Created primarily for UNICEF employees involved in construction, operations focal points, and program colleagues, this toolkit can also be helpful for UNICEF partners, organizations of persons with disabilities, and other stakeholders.
